WaveOPT Lab Hosts Dr. Chang Wen Chen for IEEE Signal Processing Society Chicago Chapter Seminar on “Contemporary Visual Computing for 6G Semantic Communications
We are excited to announce that the WaveOPT Lab will host Dr. Chang Wen Chen, Chair Professor of Visual Computing at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, for an IEEE Signal Processing Society Chicago Chapter seminar. Dr. Chen will present on "Contemporary Visual Computing for 6G Semantic Communications" on Monday, September 30, 2024, from 1:30 pm to 2:30 pm in SEO 1000.
In this seminar, Dr. Chen will explore cutting-edge research trends in visual computing with significant implications for 6G semantic communications. His talk will delve into the evolution of communication paradigms, from the classical definition of technical, semantic, and effectiveness problems outlined by Shannon and Weaver, to the modern challenges presented by 6G technologies. As 6G seeks to address the vast amounts of visual data generated for machine intelligence, Dr. Chen will discuss how structured scene graph generation (SGG) can optimize semantic extraction and representation, driving future advances in integrating visual computing with 6G systems.
Dr. Chen's extensive background includes prestigious positions such as Dean of the School of Science and Engineering at The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen, and Empire Innovation Professor at SUNY Buffalo. He is a Fellow of both IEEE and SPIE, and a recipient of numerous awards, including the UIUC ECE Distinguished Alumni Award.
This seminar, hosted by Dr. Mojtaba Soltanalian, promises to provide valuable insights into the intersection of visual computing and next-generation communication technologies.
All are welcome to attend!
